Ebook About Hunter Maxwell always gets what he wants... and he wants me.The day I met Hunter Maxwell he wasn’t the rich kid who lived in the giant house, he wasn’t the most popular guy in school, he certainly wasn’t the bully who had chased his own best friend out of town after a falling out—he was just a boy with a black eye and a dark secret. My life would have been much easier if I had stayed out of it, but I couldn’t. I saw someone hurting and wanted to help. I saw someone possibly in danger and wanted to make sure he was safe. There’s nothing safe about Hunter Maxwell, though. I thought there might be. I fell under his spell. Whatever the world saw when they looked at him, it wasn’t what he showed me.The bond we formed was real. I know it was real. But with Hunter, when the tides turn, you’d better hope you’re safely on the shore and out of his reach.I thought I was a strong enough swimmer to keep my head above water. I thought if it came down to it, I could resist his pull.I didn’t know, but now I do.Once Hunter sets his sights on you, there’s no such thing as out of his reach. Whether it’s today, tomorrow, or five years from now, he’s coming for me—and when he does, he won’t stop until he’s destroyed me.***The Boy on the Bridge is a standalone novel that contains mature, adult content. It is only recommended for adult readers.Note from the author: this novel is the size of two books. Rather than make it a duology and leave you on an emotional cliffhanger, I opted to keep the whole story in one bigger book.Book The Boy on the Bridge Review :
The Sam Mariano Experience. Words can’t describe it. Many emulate it, few achieve it, but nothing comes close to the real deal. And Boy on the Bridge is the TOTAL Sam Mariano experience. I’ve been waiting for the full Hunter/Riley story for almost a year, and Boy on the Bridge is worth every agonizing second I had to wait. What an angsty, messy, and delicious high school bully romance story! I was HOOKED. The intense and tumultuous pains of first love, heaps of teenage drama, cliquey cheerleaders and jerky jocks, cruel pranks and gossip, dances and parties and all the unexpected firsts- Sam captures it all. But this is really more than a bully romance. Because again- the Sam Mariano experience. Sam’s heroes are never bullies- THEY ARE SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT. They are master manipulators and strategists- men with very, very flawed and, at times, unredeemable traits. Heroes that mess with our mind- that seduce our brains, and the heroine's. And she writers heroines that fall willingly, completely, and irrevocably for it- heroines whose own emotional complexities, whose own “flaws” are the perfect emotional match for her heroes. It is consuming, addicting, and tantalizing- and I love it.Those that read the prequel novella in the Bully Me anthology (don’t worry if you didn’t, that is the first 11 chapters of this book) will remember our story begins with two tweens meeting unexpectedly in their special place, a meeting that solidified an intense, soulful, and emotional bond that would forever link them together. But life- and the misguided decision of adults- caused their bond to break, and years in the future Riley and Hunter meet again. One has been stewing in anger and resentment, the other is still consumed with longing and affection. Revenge, obsession, possession, and love- it’s the Sam Mariano magic ingredients. Our love story unfolds with all the heartache, push-pull, and jaw dropping/unusual romantic overtures of a Sam Mariano hero.Hunter- SWOON. He’s ruthless, entitled, manipulative, and very flawed- and OH SO DREAMY. Again, the Sam Mariano experience. She makes you fall for these heroes with very villainous traits - we become possessed and owned by them, our minds tricked by their alpha mind games just as our heroines are. He’s got some Matteo and Carter like energy, but Hunter is more wounded than either. More sensitive, more tender and vulnerable- and dare I say, a bit more apologetic about his flaws and more willing to compromise as well. Which actually makes him even more enticing. He’s going to push your limits like he does Riley's- and some might consider what he does unforgivable, but like Riley, I’m drawn to him, to both his dark and light. AND oh man this boy is HOOOOOOOOOT. His love for Riley is complicated, twisted, and unusual- and so addicting. And Riley- some might consider her too pliable, too willing to bend to Hunter’s whims, but that’s not how I see her. Because even when she seemingly has no choice but to fall prey to Hunter, even when manipulated, Riley is aware, in control of herself, and there is strength in her endless love. Yes- strength. Not how some would define it- but this is what I also love about Sam Mariano heroines. They are perfectly matched for her dark heroes- they are softer, have ample forgiveness, and have the depth of love needed to unconditionally love someone others can’t handle, they have the endless love needed to handle the parts of our leading men that require a special touch. But they do have hard limits, they are few, and rare, but they do- and that is the substance of much of this story. Hunter pushes on Riley’s- and the angsty back and forth that occurs is about if her love truly can survive Hunter’s greatest flaws- his anger, his manipulation, his spite. This book is longer- much longer than other Sam stories I’ve read. I loved every minute, because I was consumed by these characters, but there were a few parts that felt a bit drawn out, that perhaps could have been reduced. The conclusion in particular- but then when I saw what Sam was doing- WHO she was integrating and why, I got all the exciting tingles again. And, quite honestly, I’d live in ANY world Sam Mariano created for infinite pages, so for me, I wasn’t as bothered by a longer story. And we have lots of things to balance out the drama- some great humor, fun and annoying side characters, a really fun Gilmore Girls like mother-daughter dynamic, and SO MUCH HOT AND SEXY STEAM.THE TOTAL SAM MARIANO EXPERIENCE. I live for it- and I can’t wait for the book we’re told is coming next….. Wink winkPS- there are elements of non/dub con in here and this relationship is anything but “safe”- so if those are not for you, steer clear. A HOT bully romance that will take you on a roller coaster ride of emotions! This story is going to bring you back to high school. The good, the bad and the ugly. Girl drama. Bullying. Cliques. Crushes. First Love. This story has it all. You will want to scream at these characters as they make some questionable choices and hug them when they hurt. Riley and Hunter are tumultuous! Their path is filled with heartache and hurts, but their bond is unbreakable. Hang on for this intensely emotional love story. They met at fourteen on the bridge. He was the popular boy at school and she was invisible by choice. Even as a young teen he was enigmatic. People were drawn to him and he ruled the roost. He was king of the world hiding a big secret. An unlikely friendship sparks up between the rich boy who seems to have everything and the nerdy girl raised by a single mom who barely scrapes by. They share an immediate bond, but that all gets shattered when Riley feels like she can no longer keep his secret. That secret changes everything and now four years later Hunter is back. When he left after everything fell apart, he promised her he would be back and she would pay for her betrayal. Now Hunter is ready to make good on that promise. Let the payback begin. This story is no small feat. You are in for a marathon read. Hunter and Riley will fill up those pages with their sizzling attraction. THEY ARE FIRE! High school is already tough, but add in the most popular guy at school coming for you, it's even more scary. Hunter is out for revenge and he is ruthless. This story will evoke so many emotions. You may even hate Hunter at times for the things he puts Riley through. However, no matter how hard they try, they just can't stay away from each other. Riley was smitten from their first interaction on their bridge. Even when he was gone, she couldn't stop thinking about him. Now that he's back and set on making her life miserable, he's making it harder to overlook his faults. Riley is a strong girl who puts up with more than she should at times. Even when he's cruel, she sees the real Hunter.I was totally invested in this high school bully romance. The author took us on a crazy emotional journey to get us to their HEA. Hunter is a complicated guy with a difficult past, but he loves hard. And when he loves you, he is all the way in. His alpha possessive side cannot be contained when it comes to Riley. He will falter in his pursuit of a relationship with her, once he gets past his thirst for revenge, but she is the kind of girl you fight for. She's the girl you keep forever. She won't be won over easily. Hunter will have to work harder for her than anything he has ever had to before. Good thing he's so gorgeous. All the heartache will be worth it, because their ending is PERFECT!
