Beverly Lewis is undoubtedly my favorite female author, This book did not disappoint; it just wasn't long enough, It helped me to understand more of the differences between Beachy Amish and Old Order Amish. I loved the characters, the storyline, and the conclusion. I don't want to give details and spoil the book in any way. I did have one big disappointment: I'll be 78 years old when her next book is published. But, then, it's something to look forward to! Thank you, Beverly Lewis, for the many great books you have penned There were several areas of this book that disappointed me. The very first area is that the book did not deliver as billed. I thought I would be reading about an Beachy Amish girl being a tour guide in Lancaster County. There was very little in the book about that and what was about it was not written with any depth. It was as if it was just a lead in to what the author really wanted to write about which was the horse farm and Emmie and Gabe's story. I found this part of the story so boring that I started skimming quickly over the many, many chapters the author devoted to it.The story was another time story which is getting really old with so many authors writing these type of stories now. I can say that Lewis did a good job in this area because there were very few areas going back to the other time period and the segments were short. I did enjoy Eliza's story.The writing seemed a little stilted compared to Lewis' earlier books with the sentences short and seemingly more aimed at young readers.There was a nice twist at the end of the book which was enjoyable but overall the ending was very disappointing.
